employeecapacity.com is published by thrive at work, a human performance research company that builds a platform for measuring capacity and engagement together. It is not an independent body. The reference is written to be useful whichever tool an organization uses, and where thrive at work's own approach appears, it is labeled.

Why it exists

"Employee capacity" is not yet a settled term. Organizations measure engagement, and few measure whether people can keep going. This site sets out what the term means, how it differs from engagement and how it can be measured, so that the question can be asked clearly.

How it is written

  • Definitions are stated once and used consistently.
  • Statistics come from published, peer-reviewed research, named with author and year.
  • Nothing here is a medical claim. Capacity at work is not a diagnosis.
